WEM is back!
As for everyone, it has been a challenging time for WEM, but we have just started to roll out our virtual WEM programme (VWEM), starting with our first virtual training session for a new group of mentors at RPC Law.
Our VWEM programme covers the same content as our WEM programme, but this time matching business mentors with pairs of students based in a school computer lab, facilitating tasks, activities and discussions online with the aim of raising students’ aspirations, re-engaging them with school, and supporting and guiding each student to build an individual career action plan by the end of the programme.
Having never delivered training virtually before, WEM stepped up to the challenge, meeting eight wonderfully enthusiastic and engaged volunteers from RPC Law, eager to find out how they can get involved in supporting young people with their future career aspirations and career paths. An hour and a half later, after some thoughtful discussion and exploration, we can’t wait to report back on their first mentoring sessions with students from Oasis Brislington, starting in a few weeks.
So watch this space for a further update on our first VWEM partnership!
